BDAY CELEB PART 2: OUTREACH PROGRAM AND FAMILY DINNER

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Birthday is a perfect day for giving back all the blessing that has been showered on you. So, its timely that on my birthday, the bank where my boyfriend is working is having an early Christmas outreach program and I am joining them!!! Yeaa! My boyfriend even had a Sterling Bank bank made for me, hehe.... I belong, hehe...

The outreach program was on the Donato Pison Memorial School in Mandurriao. The recipients are the kids at Donato Pison. We will being giving out school supplies, slippers (Korina Sanchez! Hello! Hahaha!), foods and many more. We were joined by the ladies at Tawili Center, a university center for young women that is headed by women of Opus Dei, a religious sect founded by St. Josemaria Escriva, a Spanish priest that believes we can attain sanctity through our different profession and everything we do. Tawili Center is at Aurora Subdivision near University of San Agustin. There are several centers with different names shattered all over the Philippines and the whole world. Young women can go to Tawili Center to study, attend different types of talks from fashion, first aid, finding true love, making a Christmas decor, etc, to attend recollections, go to confession, do karaoke, chats and watch cool wholesome movies, I have been going to Tawili since college and it is great seeing them working hand in hand with my boyfriend's bank.

The Tawili ladies first gave catechism class to the kids then followed by giving them their lunch. After they ate they were told to pick their slippers they like and were given school supplies and snacks. They went crazy-happy over the gift giving, hahaha! I was so fun to watch, hahaha!

It was such a productive morning... I felt so blessed and happy at the same time.

In the evening, my little (not-so-little, actually) bro Tata, neice, Donna, my boyfie and me went to mass. It's Feast of Christ the King and the last Sunday of Ordinary Times so the Catholic Church is getting ready for Advent Season. Weeee!

After mass, we met up with my brother, his wife and son ,Ackie. We had dinner at Grand Palace Restaurant at Grand Tower Hotel.... Of course, the birthday girl's favorite cuisine is Chinese!!!

Beef with Oyster Sauce
We picked between Beef with Broccoli and Beef with Oyster Sauce. We picked the latter. Good choice! Yumminess....

Peking Style Chicken
My favorite dish of the night. I love the taste of the chicken... It has a sweet sauce marinated into the chicken's meat... And the chicharon and gravy was a perfect plus....

Ice Tea Tower
Our beverage. A very fat and tall iced tea tower, hehe

YangChow Rice
No no-carbs diet here. Our favorite version of fried rice. My nephew can eat this alone even without any viand. It has everything in it already: ham, shrimps, egg, carrots, green peas and many more, hehe

Spicy Sizzling Prawns
If you like hot dishes and crustaceans, this one is for you. It is not as spicy that it makes you tongue burn but just enough to spice your dish. Just make sure to stay away from the red hot pepper.

Lumpia Shanghai
Of course, it wouldn't be complete without a Lumpia Shanghai, my ultimate favorite Chinese dish. It is fat and thick with yummy pork meat inside. Drool!

After the garter-bursting dinner, we headed to MO2, Smallville for a game of billiards and some drinks.

The men did most of the billiard playing. That means Ackie who is not yet a man was able to play. He took this really hard, hahaha. It was just a fun way to end my day.... Family+Love +Me=Happiness!!!!

Ill end this post with my status update I wrote in my facebook wall:

Birthdays are not occassions for you to lament on a year of getting older. Rather it is a time for you to look back at the past years & to view yourself now, pat yourself at the back and say, "You have done well.. I am ready for the another year of great things to come and more oppurtunies to give back to the Lord all His wonderful blessings".......Thank you for all the birthday greetings yesterday... I feel so blessed....
