EARLY BREAKFAST AT SALCEDO MARKET

Monday, December 12, 2011

I have been pestering my sister to take me to the Salcedo Market. So last Saturday, my request was granted. I fetched my sister from work at 6AM and we headed to Makati to go to Salcedo Market for breakfast...Weeee!

As we entered Salcedo Park, we were greeted by a festive Christmas Tree... Merry Christmas, Salcedo Market!

Salcedo Community Market is an open-air market that opens every Saturday which offers a wide variety of fresh seasonal produce like fish, fruits, vegetables & herbs, taste of local & international flavors and unique dry goods.

When we entered the market, I felt like I was transported to weekend flea markets in Australia which I have experienced when I was there... There was  a lot of people there, there are an equal number of locals & foreigners there. The foreigners are mostly the vendors there. I have a hard time choosing what breakfast I want.

All types of Lasagne

Pies , cakes & free taste! Yey!

Crickets tasted like a salty bopis.... Perfect with a bit of ketchup? haha....

After roaming around and choosing what to have for breakfast. We settled on:

Veggie Sandwich & Cacao Horchata for me

It was sold by a nice Indian lady. The sandwich is filled with tofu, fresh lettuce and tomato. There is really a big difference if the produce are in season & fresh. You can really taste the yummy-  ripeness of tomato & lettuce that adds to the taste of the sandwich

I bought this because I got intrigued. Rice cooler? Does it contain rice? The vendor graciously explained to me that this is a Mexican inspired concoction. It is made from ground rice. It has a unique after-taste. My sis said, it taste like HongKong, hehe...

My sis picked the Nasi Goreng and Sate Babe

I tasted a bit of my sis food choice. It was so yummy! The Sate Babe needs more peanut sauce but besides that, it was good. I love the side dish of crunchy sweet-spicy dried fish (dilis) that I mix with rice. It was perfection.

We had so much fun that morning, we even lost track of the time. I told my sis that she should take Mama & Papa there when they visit because I am pretty sure they will enjoy it.  Salcedo Community Market is a perfect weekend destination for families, lovers and friends...
