MEN'S INFIDELITY

Inspired by with the Japanese writer Teri Miyamoto's novel, Kinshu: Autumn Brocade, here are some myths about infidelity:

- Just because he tells you he is different from other men that he doesn't cheat, that doesn't mean that he is telling the truth
-Just beacuse he is unattractive that doesn't mean he doesn't cheat. Good-looking & Ugly ones alike cheats
- Just because he says I love you to you a thousand times every day that doesn't mean he doesn't cheat
- Just because you take good care of him & love him like the way he wants to be love
that doesn't mean he won't cheat
- Just because he may seem to trust you of his access to his personal account
that doesn't mean he doesn't cheat
- Just because he kisses your forehead & reassure you daily that you are the only woman in his life,
that doesn't mean he won't cheat
- Just because both of you may seem blissfully happy and enjoy each others company when you see each other,
that doesn't mean he doesn't cheat
- Just because he said he will marry you and plans for the 1st name of your first child,
that doesn't mean he doesn't cheat
- Just because he may seem aloof and unfriendly with other women other than you,
that doesn't mean he won't cheat
- Just because he prays the rosary daily & go to mass every Sunday,
that doesn't mean he won't cheat
- Just because you are together for so long and never cheated on you,
that doesn't mean he won't cheat
- Just because you feel assured that he will never cheat on you,
that doesn't mean he doesn't cheat
- Just because his eyes twinkle when you see each other and tells you daily when you are apart that he misses you & can't wait to see you,
that doesn't mean he doesn't cheat

This is not something to scare women. Just take better protection of your hearts, girls. We all deserve a good man who will take good care of our hearts and would not want any other girl(s) but only his special someone in his life. Sounds mythical but I believe there are such a thing as a faithful, good man. Don't lose hope. And FYI, women cheat too. So men, protect of your hearts too.....

MY NEW MATE

It was love at first sight. When I saw him, I just know he is the one I been waiting for. He looked so elegant, neat and quiet, sitting aloofly in a corner. I said to myself, I got to have him before anyone get him. And indeed, I did.

At last, I have him alone with me in my room. There he was sitting on my bed, naked in his silky skin. He flash me his pearly whites and I got excited. I touched his soft exterior and stared at him with so much awe. I can’t believe I am holding this beauty. I am in love.

Meet my new mate: Toshi

FRENCH WOMEN DON'T GET FAT

In my trip to Australia, weekday evenings are quite a lull because my cousin and I usually stay in to avoid the cold outside. So my cousin gave me some books for me to read. Out of all the books she gave to me, I got enthralled with this gem of a book. I have heard rave of this book last year from a chick mag. And I totally agree! Its a keeper! If your the one who is in search for a good diet book, I would suggest this one. Mireille Guilano is a great storyteller. She didn't provide the reader a boring lecture-type solutions to losing weight. She gives you a charming narrative of how she gained weight after adopting some Western mentality in eating ( like Filipinos, too) when she was an exchange student in the United States in her teenage years and later, back in her native country, with the help of Dr. Miracle rediscovered the art of being a French women, that loses easily & maintains a fabulous figure with a certain air of class. She gave women the basic love-yourself weight loss technique by lose the rigid diet craze, simply eat in moderation, enhance the eating experience by using good, in-season ingredients & enjoy every chewing sensation, do a lot of moving & walking and loving yourself. She also gave out a lot of recipes she uses. For simplification, she also gave a bullet form presentation at the end of the book to summarize the points she made. Grab a book now, you'll be a French woman (*interpretation: classy, sexy, charming) in no time....

I have converted most of my coworkers into French women in no time after lending my book, hehehe...

ASSERT YOUR RIGHTS & OTHER MAGICAL HIDDEN POWERS

I came to me late in life (not THAT late, just 29 years late) the realization that we possess hidden powers we could summon any minute of everyday.

Here are some magics powers you could use:

1. ASSERT YOUR RIGHT

I got a poor service from a photograph studio, giving me a wrong background color to what I specified. Usually, I would timidly just keep the picture and pay for another picture in another studio. But this time, I went back to the studio, told them politely that I want a refund for my money because I gave them specific instructions before I had my picture taken. I walk in there knowing my rights as a consumer. And I too was shocked when I got back my money within any hitch.

2. MAKE A WAY

I was getting back on my feet after a cash meltdown by having garage sale,
taking on ‘rakets’& moonlighting jobs and selling my mom’s old catalogues & cookbooks to aspiring dressmakers & cooks.

3. DREAM BIG

If I wasn’t a doctor, I would love to be a social worker and be part of an organization that focus on helping young women. It’s nice to dream about it and another to make moves to make it into a reality. I came to hear this org and I got excited. Bursting with enthusiasm, I wrote a letter to the president of the organization, volunteering my help. I didn’t know if they would respond but in a few days, I received a reply and setting up a meeting… Fabulous, isn’t it? Next stop… A non-violent, greener world…..

4. SMILE

I could stress enough the power of a smile. Even Mother Teresa is an advocate of smiles because she knows the power in a smile. Friendships start from a smile. It also could lift up a day of someone even a random stranger. A positive outlook and enthusiasm is infectious. So, smile and better yet, laugh. Because laughter is a perfection of a smile.

5. PRAYER

Prayer could move mountains, my mama said. And she was right. If you allow the Higher Power to work in your life, amazing & beautiful things unfold in your life that would let you say, “Ei, isn’t just life delightful?”.

GARAGE SALE!!!

I have said early on that this year 2009 is my year of financial freedom. In an effort to reach my goal, I devise strategic plans to rid myself with the debts I seem to have accumulated the past few years and start my retirement fund this year.

I used to give away my old clothes, bags & shoes but this year & last May 2008, I followed Og Mandino’s advice, ‘To turn garbage into wealth’. And that is what I did. I gathered all my old clothes, bags, shoes, books and what-nots and decided to have a garage sale at the boarding house we are managing in CPU, Jaro.

My last May garage sale was a success. Along with my brother & sister-in-law, we sold the stuff at home that we barely used. We had so much fun. We have met a lot of interesting people. We have this trisikad driver who is really interested in my brother’s old jersey sando. He comes back every 30mins to check on the sando after driving a passenger & gives us his coins he earned ‘til it was totally paid off. And there was a guy who came in with his talented dog, that entertained us with its tricks.

So this February, in my attempt to pay off my debts of last year, I planned another garage sale and this time I convinced some co-residents in the hospital to join me. With them,we earned P6, 450.00!!! Wehooo!!! I decided this to be my yearly thing.... Now, I could say my journey towards financial freedom is starting in a high note....

TRIP BACK HOME TO GASTRONOMIC HEAVEN

Goodbye Australia! Hello hello Manila!
As I got down from the airplane, the sticky humid air of manila greeted me.... I'm back in the tropics... Yeheey?! hehehe.. Nevertheless, I was excited to see my sister, who is now based in Manila.... We would chat for hours and do what we love to do best together: PIG-OUT!
My sis, her roommate, Maryan and I spend my 3 glorious days in Manila pleasuring my taste buds to its utmost delight. Woohoo!
My gastro adventure in Manila:
