BONDING WITH MY FRIEND SINCE GRADE 1 AT MARIDEL'S

Monday, February 6, 2012

I like to think that I am good at keeping friends. I have long-term friendships. And up to now, my closest friend is still my best friend in Grade 1, Cheryl. She is a doctor too. I remember that we would call each other and talk for hours on the phone. And to think we were just in Grade 1, God knows what kind of conversations we would have that would last for hours.... I could still remember though, her number: It's 30306, hehe, ancient.... Even until now, we still would talk about anything and everything for hours over the phone.

But due to our busy lives, we haven't been doing a lot of our usual chatting. She had been working for awhile in his husband's hometown in Mindanao and she has recently given birth to a beautiful baby girl. She already got three lovely angels.. ( I got none... Uhmmm... U think I better catch up? hehe). But now she is back in the city. Weeee!

So after my resident graduation, we met up at this new  pastry shop that another good friend from high school, my pretty big sis, Kathy Escutin-Espanola recommended. It's called Maridels. It is in a tiny shop in Plazuela. I have been in the area for several times but I have never seen that shop. It is actually near the restaurant Ponsyon where we usually dine in. Maybe it is because the exteriors of Maridel''s somehow matches the one of Ponsyon which is why I never noticed this new place.

Maridel's might be a small place but it is filled with so many sweet promises. They were too many cakes to choose from. They also have a lot of ice cream cakes. The interiors might not be that aazing due to the space issue but they have little interior details that would catch your attention, like their big silver mirror, their wooden clock or their chandelier.

I ordered two cakes for myself haha.... Cheryl just bought chamomile tea. But I did asked the another one to-go for my boyfriend because apparently, the greedy little me couldn't finish the two, hehe. I ordered the ice cream cakes: a frozen lemon meringue and turtle pie. It was sooo yummy! It reminds me a lot of the cake shop in Bacolod that I really like: Calea.  I can't wait to bring my sweet-tooth boyfriend here...

Cheryl and I chatted about the usual: everything and anything. But our chat fest was cut short because I still have some business-woman duties to attend.. Hay! We will definitely have  a part 2 of this... and part 3... 4....5... and a lot more.... of our sessions. Shout out to Kathy Escutin Espanola... This is such a great call.... I love Maridel's hehe.... Can't wait to come back...
