RAINBOW BRITE ELECTIONS

This May 10, 2010, its the battle of colors.... You would think that the power rangers had a major rift and decided to settle this once and for all through election for presidency in the Philippines...

On the RED corner:
The color represents vigor, willpower, leadership and courage. However in our political history, it’s commonly associated with the revolution, the Socialist red and communism. The power ranger who represents this color  is  a proven transformational leader. He is an action man and results. He is a sharp talker with a wit to boot. He doesn't back down, extremely authoritative and is a very strong competitor. Our country might need a rude awakening and a bit of constructive spanking from Power Ranger Red. Though he is not as popular as his opponents, he is a good bet for presidential race basing on his resume of achievements. As my friend lovingly chants, "Manalo man matalo, cute pa rin kami" (Win or lose, we are still cute - referring to his cute stature, hehe)...

In the ORANGE corner:
In the color factory this represents warmth, vitality, determination and reliability. In politics, particularly in Ukraine, it symbolizes opposition to tyranny. Power Ranger Orange could be dubbed as Mr. Popularity. I admire how he campaigned way way ahead his opponents and strategically  dominated the media, a very powerful tool in reaching the masses. You could see his face plastered in every corner of the streets, you would hear his jiggle blaring on radios, tvs, the children on the street. I would even surprise myself singing the jiggle while I'm walking on my way to work. What is this? Its subtly creeping into our subconscious. Orangy Brainwash? This power ranger is so powerful that even the 2 year old child of the sibling of an opponent has his vote, hehe... He manages to get some very influential allies to side with him. All with a large following..... and all have been known to be ladies men (hmmm...what a coincidence?)... Power Ranger Orange is quite an ambitious contender, promising Utopia to the Philippine people, the much awaited end to poverty. I admire the confidence and I am sure he has his capabilities & strength but Mr. Power Ranger Orange, it's easier said than done. But if you area gambler, you can try placing your bet on this guy..  We can't be really sure with Mr. Orange but hey, we might hit the jackpot.

In the  YELLOW corner:
This represents optimism, intellect, spontaneity and energy. Yellow was the political symbol which tells the story of the Chinese reunification and of course, the historic 1986 Philippine People Power movement. Power Ranger Yellow's mother repopularize the catchy "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" tune, making us wave our flaglets, put flowers on guns and suddenly feels a deep love for our country. Power Ranger Yellow's parents left a wonderful legacy for our country --- a yellow-filled patriotism and deep sense of ethics. Following his parents' footstep aims for a corrupt-free government, an admirable goal  for us Filipinos. Though his popularity has greatly hang entirely on his parent's unquestioned legacy, the perfect question for him though is, what has he done so far for our country? I hope if he wins, he could double time in proving himself and making concrete change for the better for our country.

In the GREEN corner:
This represents growth, harmony, freshness and good health. Green, as a political ideology, symbolizes a belief in environmental goals, and on achieving them through broad-based, grassroots, participatory democracy. Power Ranger Green initially wasn't someone I was familiar with. I doubted some more when he was endorsed by the present government but after hearing his plans and visions, my doubts slowly faded. What he brings to the table is the "Galing at Talino" (Intelligence & Skill) that he definitely has and fresh ideas for a better country. He doesn't give impossible promises to the people but lays down definite plans to reach a  more concrete goal. He doesn't engage in black propaganda or uses emotions to get your vote. He is  lawyer and a pilot and another friend of mine once noted, "If he will be the next president, we wont be embarrassed if he is front of other presidents of other country. He is very articulate, charismatic and not to mention, definitely a looker".   In the words of Direk Jose Reyes," My president has balls and brains, dignity in his person, and clarity in his vision. He is neither a product of self-promotion nor emotion.”.

So who's the power ranger I'm rooting for? I love Green... I love Power Ranger Green... I am definitely going Green....
