YOUR DIET ACCORDING TO YOUR BLOOD TYPE

Friday, March 30, 2012

In my usual visit to National Bookstore, I came across with this book by Dr. Peter D'Adamo.

I am Blood Type A and I just got this one. I learned that Blood Type A benefit in a more vegetarian diet with small doses of chicken and fish. Red meats are a no-no or if you couldn't help yourself at least once a week of beef and pork would do.

When I got to Med School, in my sophomore year, I gained a lot of weight and to remedy that, I went into a (pesco)vegetarian diet (inspired by Natalie Portman) and had a cheat day on Sundays. After 2 months, I lose a lot of weight and was losing more weight. I felt great, light and no moods-swings. Some of my classmates would tell me to eat meat because I am looking too stick-thin na daw. Eventually, I started eating red meat again. There goes my 2-months love affair with vegetarian diet. And I never had the urge to go back to vegetarian diet again... well, until now. I did miss the benefits that vegetarian diet gave me but getting back into the wagon is soo hard. I would need a large ounce of willpower to resist grabbing the steak and instead  of eating the greens on my plate.

I need to repress the carnivorous side in me and love my greens. I don't want to call myself a 'full-blooded' vegetarian because I would definitely have my cheats day once a week and I am not doing this for any humanitarian reasons. And 'real' vegetarian would slap me if I call myself one. I would rather call myself, a struggling 'flexitarian'. Definition: those who eat a mostly vegetarian diet, but occasionally eat meat (which most vegetarians loathe the term). So good luck to me and my journey to a healthier me. Weeee!

Look at the 1st vegetarian meal I made: Tofu-Broccoli Stir Fry with Organic Brown Rice

The book is my guide book to what foods I should eat that would work well with my blood type. I wouldn't go into the details why these types of food is recommended for certain blood types as not to bore you. Simply put, there are some certain components of certain foods that react differently to synergistically or against the blood type components. Hence, the blood type diet was formulated.

You would ask, how about if you are Blood Type B, O or AB? Since I just bought the book for Blood Type A, I resorted to the internet for infos about other blood type, hehe. Here you go:
