Yearly, every 3rd weekend of October, Bacolod City, the City of Smiles of Negros Occidental, celebrates this colourful festival called Masskara Festival. There are street dance competition of skillful dancers usually in heavy ornamented and sexy costumes and beautifully crafted masks dancing to a infectious Latin music. It is called Masskara from the masks that the dancers wear and it is spelled as MASSkara to denote mass as in the multitude of people coming for the festive event.
Coincidentally, the clinic where I am working at is having their dinner and dance at Orchard Hotel and get this, the theme is Masquerade Ball! So, I get to celebrate the Masskara Festival of Bacolod City here in Singapore!

i would love to go to the festival. however, there are just no long weekends in october, especially during the masskara festival. we have to work around the schedule of my daughter in order not to disrupt her studies. i don't think we had traveled anywhere without her in tow, he he he
ReplyDeleteIt is nice that you are teaching your daughter the beauty of traveling at a young age.... Maybe next year... hehe... i have never experienced Masskara Festival too.. hehe...
