THE GARDEN CAFE

Thursday, September 22, 2011

One of my favorites places in the world are coffee shops. So I get really ecstatic if I would discover a unique quirky cool coffee shop. Coffee shops for me are perfect place for de-stressing, be it, me alone with a good book or the latest mag or some chat time with my galpals.

I have been tipped by my sister of this new cool coffee shop in the heart of Iloilo City. My sis knows my penchant for  cozy coffeeshop and told me I should try going there. But I never gotten the time to go...well, until yesterday.

I brought my two friends & co-residents, Vane & Mar, who I believe are coffee connoisseurs like me (wahaha!) to try the new spot. And by coffee connoisseurs, I mean people who could never start the day or end the day with a 3-in1 Nescafe. I guess we are usually the culprits of finishing most of the stocks of 3-in-1 coffee in the office.

This the coffee shop : THE GARDEN CAFE

The Garden Cafe serves both as a coffee shop in the late afternoon until the evening and a Korean school during the day.

The Menu

This is what we ordered

I ordered this. Chocolate Oreo Frappe (P80). I looks lovely and yummy but it was a tad bit too sweet. Mar ordered an Iced Hazelnut coffee (P60), well, because I coerced her to order that, only because I love the name Hazelnut. However, she hated it. It was too strong. So she ordered another Chocolate Oreo Frappe like me, hehe...

Vane ordered the Hot Caramel Macchiato (P75). If I will come back here again, I will definitely order this. The waitress also told us that their Kiwi smoothie is one of their bestsellers too. But we are not in a mood to be fruity..hehe, no pun intended.

Because we want to wash down the sweetness from our tongues, we decided to order a waffle with fruits, maple syrup and fruits (haha, how ironic is that? Wanting to wash the sweetness huh?) Luckily, hehe, it was unavailable. I chose the Hawaiian Pizza Sandwich (P95) instead, because I have penchant for pineapples on breads. It was big enough for us to share.

It was yummy..... Hmmmm......

It was a great night for girl talks. Topics? Love life, boys and secrets.... Typical girly talks... hehe.

Meet the coffee connoisseurs:

Honey, channeling Urban Pocahontas
Vane, el fotographer-slash-doktor
Mar, the resident vixen

Though the coffees may need a little improvement and the service crew seem to be hiding sometimes, considering that the place is not that packed, what is could make you come back to The Garden Cafe is it's ambiance. Nice homey rustic decor. Free wifi, though that night it was a bit slow. There are also lots of books and magazine nearby at your dispense that you can read while you are enjoying your cup of java, just don't take it home. There are no borrower's cards there.

The cafe is obviously a big old house, hence the cozy homey feel. But Vane is suspecting some after-world spirits roaming around and she wouldn't be surprise if she sees a 'white lady"floating around. There are doors with sign posted outside: Room A, Room B and Teacher's Lounge. These are for Korean students & English tutors during the day.

This is not called Garden Cafe for nothing, so here is the garden... hehe
