Early June I was invited by the gracious bankers of Sterling Bank Iloilo to join them in their Annual Beach Outing (so flattered that my presence is deemed invite-able, hehe). Or I guess my boyfriend (a Sterling banker) have to beg them to let me tag along, hehe..
DESTINATION: Guisi, Guimaras Island.
Wohoo! I have never been to this part of Guimaras. I was inflicted by this infectious bug of love for beaches by my boyfriend. And I don't blame him. Beaches are a perfect place to unwind, be one with nature, perfect for meditation and be all romantic, nyehehe.....
After a 15 minute boat ride from Iloilo to Guimaras Island, we rented a jeep that would take us 1hour and 45 minutes to Nueva Valencia where we can find the Kenyama Beach Resort in Guisi.
The jeep struggled as it pushes its wheels up into the mountainous area.... I thought we were going to the beach?! Why are we going uphill?! After another push on the gas pedal, we are in Guisi!!!
Then, we saw the inviting clear waters below.... We were excited! We were transported in paradise! Ohlalala!
It was a day of fun and frolic under Mr. Sun with a special participation of Miss Little Drizzle. There were specific stuff planned out however, with a fun, easygoing gang, the beach, the waters and a silly feisty monkey of the resort, hey, who needs a strict itenirary. So the organizers toss away the original plan. Instead,we ate all quail intended for a treasure hunt; wade the cool waters; played some pool; chatted over good food, some beer & vodka; teased the feisty monkey; and played some cards. It was the perfect R & R for all of us. I even got to sneak a short nap in the afternoon, hehe...
Kenyama Beach Resort is a newly developed resort. Actually, they are still a lot of renovations going on. I learned that the resort is owned by a Japanese named Kasuo Yamagami. And the name Kenyama is a combination of the owner's family name and his son's first name. Soon, they are planning to have a swimming pool and Station of the Cross for Holy Week. Below you can find their room rates:
Deluxe Room (twin bed good for 2 persons, air-conditioned) - P2,500
Presidential Room (good for 2 persons, air-conditioned) -P4000

It was the ideal place for us to unwind and bid adieu to the summer.... It was the perfect way to end summer!
